What is Be A Local Tourist?
Be A Local Tourist is an annual event where Victoria’s attractions and tourist-oriented businesses offer discounts or even free admission to pass holders.
When is it?
February 27 – March 2, 2020
Our Business Members boost their shoulder-season sales with new guests who may not normally have the chance to visit. These visitors are more likely to return and recommend you to others based on their first-hand experience!
How do I get involved?
Vancouver Island Brewing
“We participate in Be a Local Tourist because it drives traffic through our doors in a slow time of year and exposes locals to our business that may have never been here before.”
AdrenaLINE Zipline Adventure Tours
“Our locals love the ‘Be a Local Tourist’ weekend, we continue to see many of the same faces each year. We have learned that some have made it a tradition to come out for an early season zip and then finish up next door for a bevy at the 17 Mile Pub.”
Macaloney's Caledonian Distillery & Twa Dogs Brewery
“Be a Local Tourist is a way to bring in local tourists who may not be aware of all the great attractions on their doorstep. These locals are the lifeblood of our attractions during the off season and the program is a great way to get them engaged and also to say thanks for supporting us all.”
Off the Eaten Track
“This is our 3rd year participating in Be a Local Tourist and we find it’s a great way to increase sales in a typically slower month and we have definitely seen repeat businesses from being involved. We would highly recommend participating!”
